Orli Launches With a Celebratory Evening at its Debut Location in La Jolla
October 14, 2022
Friends, family, and local tastemakers came together to celebrate the launch of Orli, an entirely new kind of travel experience, and the opening of its debut location in La Jolla, California.
Co-founders, siblings, and La Jolla locals Hailey and Maxwell Waitt welcomed guests to the landmark property on the heels of completing a two-year restoration of the 1910-era private residence originally designed by Irving Gill, the father of California Modernism.
The special evening took place underneath the shade of century-old olive trees in the courtyard at Orli La Jolla. Electric Violinist, Spags, performed for guests as the sun began to set, a vibrant, opulent sound that reverberated through the walls of the historic location. Guests received Apolis + Orli Market Bags packed with gift items, including Orli bedroom slippers, hats, t-shirts, Ocean Bottles, and more.
Maddie Lord, principal designer at ML Design Co., was a guest of honor at the event. As the interior designer for the new San Diego destination, Lord infused Orli La Jolla with bold colors, rich textures and high contrast — a timeless aesthetic which also reflects La Jolla’s roots and the building’s iconic architecture.

Old friends and new acquaintances mixed and mingled over epicurean delights prepared by Chef Drew of Second Nature Catering, along with craft cocktails, each named to the tune of Orli La Jolla’s 13 distinct rooms, such as “Sunset Dreams,” “Nomad Life,” and “The Irving Gill.”
Creating an entirely novel hospitality experience, Orli allows guests to customize their experience pre-arrival or at any time during their stay, arrive and depart on their own terms, and effortlessly enjoy hyper-local discoveries — all while experiencing elevated design and tap-away convenience.
